Bookings and Payment

A provisional reservation can be made by telephone or e-mail if you provide your full name, address and telephone number/e-mail. Please note that your reservation will be held for five days pending receipt by us of a deposit together with confirmation of the size of your party.  The deposit will be 30% of the booking price.  We only accept payments in pounds sterling.

The balance is payable by you no later than eight weeks before the commencement of your holiday. If your holiday is due to commence within eight weeks the total cost of your holiday is payable within five days of the date we confirm availability to you.  Time is of the essence and if you fail to make payment to us as stated, we shall be entitled to assume that you wish to cancel your booking.  In such circumstances, any deposit you have already paid to us will be forfeited and we shall be entitled to re-advertise the property for the dates you had reserved.

At our discretion we may require a damage deposit of £100 per booking and if so this will be payable at the time the balance is payable.  We shall confirm at the time of accepting your booking whether a damage deposit is required.  Subject to the terms and conditions below, any damage deposit paid by you will be refunded no later than 14 days following the end of your holiday.

You may pay by BACS transfer, cheque or Pingit.  Cheques should be made payable to “AL & MA Walvish” and details of where to send your cheque will be provided to you on confirmation of availability.

Even if we have written confirmation, we have the right to cancel a booking where there are reasonable grounds to do so including where we believe that:

  • It is not legitimate;

  • You are likely to breach any of our booking conditions;

  • Information supplied by you in relation to your booking is incorrect.

If we cancel your booking, we will tell you in writing and we will have no legal responsibility to you.

Your booking is for the sole purpose of holiday accommodation and accept that you are not offered any rights to the property other than the right to occupy the property as a holiday accommodation for the period of your booking.  No booking of any kind is an ‘Assured Shorthold Tenancy’ or Protected From Eviction Act 1977.

 Cancellation

If you have to, or want to, cancel your holiday, you must phone us as soon as possible.  The day we receive your notice by phone to cancel is the date on which we will cancel your booking.  Depending on your reason for cancellation, you may receive a refund of money you have paid to us for your booking.  We may also charge a cancellation administration fee of £50 for each week or part of a week per booking.  The conditions for getting a refund referred to above only apply if the cancellation applies to all members of your party.  All prices are for the whole property and not on a per person basis.

To qualify for a refund you must have one of the following reasons, for which you may be asked to send evidence:

  • Illness (we will need to see medical evidence that you or a member of the party is unfit to travel).  We will not cover pregnancy.

  • Death;

  • Illness or death of a close relative (a close relative is defined as a husband, wife, civil partner, son or daughter, son or daughter-in-law, parent, mother-in-law or father-in-law, grandparent, sister or brother or fiancé or fiancée).

Please note that any of the above reasons must have arisen after you made your booking and must not have been within your knowledge at the time of your booking.  This particularly applies to pre-existing illness.

If the reason for cancellation is not one of those given above, for example, you do not want to travel, your leave is cancelled by your employer and so on, you will have to pay a cancellation charge based on the number of days before the arrival date at the property that we receive notice.  This means that if you have paid the balance of your total booking cost and then have to, or want to, cancel, you may receive a refund of part of the cost.  However, if you have not paid your total booking cost by the time of your cancellation, you may have to make a further payment to cover the cancellation charge.

Cancellation charge:

  • More than 56 days before the start of your trip - full deposit

  • 29 to 56 days - 50% of the accommodation cost

  • 15 to 28 days - 75% of the accommodation cost

  • 14 days or fewer  - full accommodation cost

If we are able to re-book the cottage for the relevant period a full refund may be given by us at our absolute discretion.

 You are not eligible for any refund if you choose to cut short your stay and leave before the end of your booking.

 General Terms and Conditions

Prices quoted are for seven nights self-catering accommodation commencing and terminating on a Saturday.  We shall make appropriate arrangements for you to receive or collect the keys prior to your holiday but the property will not be available until after 3.00pm on the day of your arrival.  The property must be vacated by 10.00am on the last day of your holiday.  We shall advise on return of the keys.

All heating, electricity, bed linen, bath and hand towels are included in the price.  Please remember to bring towels for swimming etc.  A travel cot is available at the cottage for a cost of £10 per week (please note that bed linen is not provided for the travel cot).  A highchair may be available for a cost of £5 per week.

Your holiday group must not exceed the number as booked.  If it does we may at our absolute discretion refuse to allow you to take possession or ask you to vacate the property before the end of your holiday.  In such circumstances we will treat this as you cancelling the booking and no refund will be given or considered.  You cannot arrange for visitors to the cottage to stay overnight which exceeds the maximum occupancy and without our advance consent.  You cannot arrive with more than three persons unless we agree in advance.  We will not be legally responsible to you as a result of this situation (including any costs or expenses you have to pay due to not being able to stay in the property, such as finding alternative accommodation.)  Camping in the garden or grounds of the property is strictly prohibited.  Please note that the owners live at Chapel Field and these terms and conditions will be strictly enforced.

Whilst staying at the property you are responsible for keeping the premises, all furniture and fittings, both inside and outside, in the state of repair, condition and cleanliness as you found them at the beginning of your holiday.  Chapel Field is lovingly cared for and we would ask that you treat the property and its contents with respect, leaving it clean and tidy.  The house and cottage are non-smoking and no pets or other animals are allowed during your stay.  Please note that you will be responsible for the cost of repairing any damage or replacing any breakages caused by any member of your party.  You will also be charged for any extra cleaning required in the event that the property is not left in a clean and tidy condition at the end of your stay.  We reserve the right to deduct any such costs from the damage deposit along with the right to demand from you any additional costs incurred by us in remedying the same or enforcing our rights hereunder.  Whilst at Chapel Field we expect you to show due respect and consideration to other people, whether they are also holidaying in the adjoining properties or are our neighbours nearby.  Please do not abuse Chapel Field in any way or display any rude, offensive or dangerous behaviour.  Whilst a great deal of thought and effort has gone into making your holiday and Chapel Field as enjoyable and comfortable as possible, should you have any cause for dissatisfaction or complaint we would request that you raise this with us as soon as possible.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES: Using a 13A domestic socket is dangerous.  Over a time the plug and socket invariably become hot and could start a fire.  Merely trailing an extension out of a kitchen window should not even be considered!  Do not charge your EV at Chapelfield Cottage.

Occasionally, a problem may result in some service or facility to Chapel Field being unavailable or restricted and we and/or our agents may require access to Chapel Field during your stay in order to effect repairs.  If such circumstances exist we shall endeavour to inform you in advance and to correct the problem as soon as possible (although we reserve the right on behalf of ourselves and our agents to enter the property without notice in cases of emergency).  Whilst every effort will be made to rectify any problems prior to or during your stay at Chapel Field, in cases of emergency, we may need to cancel your holiday (or any un-expired part thereof) if essential maintenance or emergency repairs are needed.  Should this unusual course of action be necessary any amounts paid by you will be refunded (i) in full if your holiday has not yet commenced or (ii) on a pro rata basis for the un-expired part of your stay if your holiday has commenced.

Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, we shall be under no liability to you, your guests or any other person whatsoever or howsoever arising and from whatever cause and whether in contract or tort (or both) arising in respect of any claim, loss, cost (consequential or otherwise) liability, damage or delay, personal injury or death of or to, or in connection with any person or property provided that nothing herein shall exclude any liability for death or personal injury to any person caused by our negligence to the extent that such exclusion is prohibited by statute.

Under the Data Protection Act of 1998 we are the sole data controllers of all personal data provided to us by customers or potential customers and will not pass any information received to any other organisation or person.  We have adequate security measures to secure this information.
